Edição deste ano é inspirada na Encíclica Papal sobre as alterações climáticas e ambiente
A 21ª edição do festival ambiental de Seia, que vai realizar-se de 10 a 17 de Outubro próximos, colheu como inspiração para a sua Selecção Oficial, a Encíclica Papal sobre as alterações climáticas e ambiente. O filme de abertura é ‘A Hora do Lobo’, do realizador francês Jean-Jacques Annaud, uma ficção sobre uma espécie em risco de extinção, igualmente na Serra da Estrela.
A organização do CineEco – Festival Internacional de Cinema Ambiental da Serra da Estrela acaba de divulgar no seu site a lista oficial das obras selecionadas e a filosofia que marcou as escolhas de filmes para a edição nº 21 do festival, que decorre na Casa Municipal da Cultura de Seia, de 10 a 17 de Outubro.
A Selecção Oficial CineEco 2015 inspirou-se na Encíclica do Papa Francisco, divulgada pelo Vaticano em Junho passado, intitulada ‘Laudato Si, Sobre o Cuidado da Casa Comum’, um importante manifesto que coloca pela primeira vez a Igreja Católica no centro do debate ambientalista e climático e que antecipa de alguma forma a discussão da Conferência Mundial sobre as Alterações Climáticas, em Novembro próximo.
Ao todo estão selecionados cerca de 80 filmes, de 20 países, repartidos por várias seções competitivas, onde se inclui Longas e Curtas Internacionais, Séries e Documentários de Televisão, Longas e Curtas da Lusofonia e Panorama Regional e todos manifestam a preocupação e o reconhecimento da responsabilidade da mão humana no aquecimento global e necessidade de mudarmos o nosso estilo de vida, para salvar o planeta. A Encíclica é um documento extraordinário, que tem sido saudado por líderes religiosos, ambientalistas, investigadores, dirigentes de organizações internacionais e naturalmente inspirou a organização do CineEco 2015.
‘A Hora do Lobo’ de Jean-Jacques Annaud, (o realizador de ‘Sete Anos no Tibete’, ‘O Nome da Rosa’ e ‘O Urso’), tem uma antestreia no CineEco, como filme de abertura antes de chegar às salas comerciais na semana seguinte. O filme é uma ficção de aventuras, com preocupações ambientalistas no que diz respeito à história sobre uma espécie em riscos de extinção que durante séculos, incluindo na Serra da Estrela, estabeleceu uma relação de mútuo respeito com o Homem.
‘A Hora do Lobo’ conta a história de um estudante chinês no tempo do maoismo, que é enviado para o interior da Mongólia para ensinar a ler os pastores e os aldeões locais e fica a saber que a população de lobos está ameaçada pelas decisões de um funcionário do governo central. ‘Muros e o Tigre’, da realizadora Sushma Kallam, um documentário de 83 minutos, passado na Índia, que analisa a necessidade de equilíbrio entre progresso económico, inclusão social, defesa do ambiente e como integrar industrialização e agricultura de forma sustentável é o Filme de Encerramento.
Nas longas-metragens da Competição Internacional, destacam-se filmes que advogam as várias ramificações da crise ambiental mundial, que são abordadas no texto do Papa Francisco: mudar o nosso estilo de vida (‘Todo o Tempo do Mundo’, de Suzanne Crocker, Canadá ou ‘Ao Contrário (com légumes)’, de Anne Closset, Bélgica e ‘Global Shopping Village’, de Ulli Gladik, Áustria/Croácia), substituição dos combustíveis fósseis (‘Gelo Negro’, de Maarten van Rouveroy van Nieuwaal, Holanda/Rússia), biodiversidade (‘Contenção’, de Peter Galison & Robb Moss, EUA), água, energia e resíduos, (‘Planetário’, de Guy Reid, Reino Unido/EUA e ‘Movimento’, de Ellard Vasen, Holanda), poluição do ar (MaldiMare, de Matteo Bastianelli, Itália), tecnologia (Procurando Desesperadamente uma Zona Limpa’, de Marc Khanne, França), catástrofes naturais provocadas pelas alterações climáticas (Paraíso, de Nash Ang, Filipinas).
Estes e outros temas com enfoque ambiental, farão parte da vasta programação do CineEco 2015, que este ano assinala a sua 21ª edição com um conjunto de atividades paralelas e uma parceria estratégica com a empresa Endesa.

CINE ECO ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL SELECTION 2015
The Official Selection is inspired in the Papal Encyclical concerning the environment and climate changes.
The 21st edition of the environmental festival of Seia, which is going to happen on 10 to 17 of October of this year, reaped inspiration for his Official Selection from the Papal Encyclical concerning the environment and climate changes. The opening movie is ‘Wolf Totem’, by the french director Jean-Jacques Annaud, a feature film about the wolf, a species that is in danger of extinction, which is also happening in Serra da Estrela.
The organization of the CineEco – The International Festival of Environmental Cinema of Serra da Estrela has just published in his site, the official list of the selected works and the philosophy that marked the choices of movies for the 21st edition of the festival, which takes place at the Culture City Hall, from 10 to the 17 of October.
The Official Selection CineEco 2015 was inspired by the Encyclical of Francisco, The Pope, released by the Vatican in last June entitled ‘Laudato Si, About the Care of Common House’, an important manifest that puts for the first time the Catholic Church in the center of the environmental and climate discussion and anticipates, somehow, the debate of the World Conference on Climatic Alterations, which will take place in November.
Altogether there are selected nearly 80 movies, of 20 countries, distributed by several competitive sections, including International Long and Short Films, Series and Documentaries for Television, Long and Short Films of Lusofonia Countries and Regional Panorama. They all show concern towards the environmental care and the acknowledgement of the responsibility of the human hand in the global heating and necessity of changing our way of life, to save the planet. The Encyclical is an extraordinary document, which has been greeted by religious leaders, environmentalists, investigators, leaders of international organizations and, naturally, inspired the organization of CineEco 2015.
‘Wolf Totem’ directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, (director of ‘Seven Years in the Tibet’, ‘The Name of the Rose’ and ‘The Bear’), has a premiere in CineEco as opening film, before reaching the commercial movie theaters, week after. The movie is a fiction full of adventures, with environmental concerns regarding the history of the wolf as an endangered species that during centuries, including in our mountain, Serra da Estrela, established a relation of mutual respect with the Man.
‘Wolf Totem’ tells the story of a Chinese student in maoism time, which is sent for the interior of Mongolia to teach the shepherds and the local villagers to read and he finds out that the population of wolves is threatened by the decisions of an official of the central government. ‘Walls and the Tiger’, directed by Sushma Kallam, an 83 minutes documentary, past in India, analyses the need for balance between economical progress, social integration, environmental protection, and how to integrate industrialization and agriculture in a sustainable way; it's the the closing film.
In the features of the International Competition, highlights are movies that advocate several branching of the world-wide environmental crises, which are mentioned in the text of The Pope Francisco: how to change our way of life (‘All the Time of the World’, of Suzanne Crocker from Canada or ‘On the contrary (with vegetables)’, of Anne Closset from Belgium and ‘Global Shopping Center Village’, of Ulli Gladik, Áustria from Croatia), the substitution of the use of fuels fossils (‘Black Ice’, of Maarten van Rouveroy van Nieuwaal from Holland / Russia), the biodiversity ('Restriction', of Peter Galison and Robb Moss from USA), the water, the energy and waste material, (‘Planetarium‘, of Guy Reid from United Kingdom / USA and I 'Move', of Ellard Vasen from Holland), the pollution of the air (MaldiMare, of Matteo Bastianelli from Italy), the technological advances (Looking Desperately for a Clean Zone’, of Marc Khanne from France) and the natural catastrophes caused by the climate changes (Paradise, of Nash Ang from Philippines).
This and other subjects with environmental approach will be part of the wide range of the programming of the CineEco 2015, that this year marks his 21st edition with a set of parallel activities and a strategic partnership with Endesa.
